Disclaimer:
I know I might catch some heat from this one…as well as many emails, but I will not stand silent as the country is spending my future away, my children’s future away. Some individuals, as I state in this post, are advocates for the spending, while others, like myself, are not. This is not racist, this is not me “putting anyone down”, this is me stating the facts. This post does not reflect others in Fort Liberty, nor those we support in local elections, this is simply one writer..one man.. stating an opinion through fact.

Racism, a term with the history of patriots, a term with history of pride, of America, would seem to be greatly dwindling. You would think that the election of an African-American would be the end-all to the racism debate within America. However, this is not the case.
According to SocialistWorker.Org, “Obama should be using his popularity and presence as the first African American president to highlight the overwhelming impact of the economy on Black communities and advocate even more investment in urban areas, the construction of affordable housing and a real jobs creation program that can permanently pull people out of poverty among other things.
In other words, ordinary people need more than cash infusions in the form of stimulus–we need the creation of a new welfare system that guarantees income, housing and health care.
It is still very early in the Obama presidency, and whether or not he and his administration respond to all of these issues remains to be seen. But is it is probably fair to say right now, that whether or not these issues get fully taken up will depend on the ability of our side to get organized and make these demands.”
Make demands? New Welfare?
All I hear, in stories much like this, is “deserve”, “need”, “want”, “guarantee”, and “demand”.
The democratic party embraces greatly the policies and the Presidency of John F Kennedy. Yet, it was JFK who spoke those immortal words in his inaugural address, “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country”.
The story I cited earlier spoke of a “new welfare”. One that would exponentially expand the system forever placing these individuals dependent on the American government. Though, personally, I believe that Welfare should be extremely scare and with time limits (or even abolished), it is the will of the people. Seeing how democrats buy votes with these programs, and how it is deeply embedded into the American psyche, we all know that welfare is never going away (at least not without a fight).
In my opinion, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are the definition of racism in America and a giant undoing on the memory and work of Dr King. Read back through the “dream speech”. Ever wonder why it sounds so conservative? Judging a person by the content of his (or her) character, and not the color of skin is hardly a liberal sentiment. Dr King, an image “owned” by Democrats (historically), was an individualist conservative. And, much like the statements of JFK in his inaugural address, wanted individuals in all community’s to get ahead through personal achievement, not though a crutch such as welfare. Sharpton and Jackson, however, were not so supportive of individual achievement.
Their racist reactions often times harm race relations more than they help. When will both the black and white communities alike hold these ”reverends” accountable? They are supposed to be peacemakers. Most of the fruit I see from them is far from peaceful or restorative. Their actions tend to drive a deep wedge amongst our citizens. And for what? To line their pockets?
I just hope this latest example of racism coming from Jackson and Sharpton exposes the hypocrisy that propels these charlatans. The reverends assume if an alleged crime is white on black then the accused is guilty until proven innocent. If it is a black on white or black on black crime then we must assume innocence at all costs. And if they do turn out to be guilty, it is someone else’s fault … poverty, fatherless upbringing, the ”man” holding them back.
People from all walks of life commit crimes. When a crime is committed we all must assume innocence. That goes for Jesse and Al as well. In this case the reverends should be sued. Sued for big money until they realize that their thirst for the camera can not take priority over one of the most basic tenets of our legal system – innocent until proven guilty. Regardless of skin color.
Future hijackings of public opinion by race baiters should cost them personally. It is only when hate-filled men like Jesse and Al are called to account for their actions that we will see racism banished to the place it belongs.
If you want to see racism stop in America we must hold people responsible for irresponsible speech and behavior. Screaming ”fire” in a crowded theater is not protected by the First Amendment and neither should the language of racism.

The only reason they’ve gotten away with it for so long is because they are feeding off of the fears and ignorance of what has, traditionally, been a reclusive community of people. Black people look up to them because they’re success stories not because they know better, and will continue to follow them blindly until enough people, black and white, point out how outdated and childish their views are. But that’s just me.
